Where There’s a “Will”, There’s a Way

A Will is a powerful tool in your estate planning process. It is legal document that contains your instructions about what is to be done with your property after you pass away. In fact, a Will is one of the most common documents used in estate planning.

In order for your Will to be valid in Illinois, the following requirements must be met: (1) It must be in writing (hand or type written); (2) It must be signed by you; and (3) It must be attested by two (2) or more witnesses in your presence.

Child Support and Passports

Have you been thinking about taking a trip out of the country? Well, if you are behind on your child support payments, you may need to reconsider your travel plans. Before you spend extra time and money making travel plans, you need to make sure that child support arrears have not prevented you from getting your passport. Your passport application can be denied if you: 1) owe more than $2,500 in child support arrears, or 2) you are not complying with an existing passport denial payment plan. Your passport application can also be denied if you owe more than $2,500 and stopped paying on the arrears by choice. For example, you lost your job and stopped making child support payments.
